Visual Papers #1 - CD5L is a canonical component of Circulatory IgM

At Skid Visual Science we love fresh science and illustration, and that's why we want to introduce a new section: Visual Papers.

An image is worth a thousand words

In most cases, "an image is worth 1,000 words", and this is also true for scientific research, at least when the reach is to be considered. We all love wordy publications and fancy scientific jargon, especially when looking at the methods for the experiment we want to reproduce. However, have you heard about "picture superiority effect"? This refers to the phenomenon in which pictures and images are more likely to be remembered than words. So, if you want to make a lasting impression, a graphical summary, graphical abstract, or any other sort of visual representation is the way to go! That's why, with our new section Visual Papers, we aim to engage the scientific community in looking at your work, so that it makes a lasting impression at first sight! In this section, we will select a recent publication/preprint showing disruptive or innovative findings and we will make a visual summary of it! We hope that, by showcasing research in a visual and aesthetic way, we can help your research reach further, by making your findings stick to your audience's brain instead of getting lost in the ocean of publications. Moreover, if you have been featured, we proudly encourage you to share our Visual Paper with your social media networks (please tag us — @skid_vs at Twitter & Instagram and Skid Visual Science at LinkedIn)!

CD5L is a canonical component of circulatory IgM

For the first edition of Visual Papers, we have a very special preprint from our former lab (Hecklab, Utrecht University). In our humble opinion, this work, although still a preprint, is of very high quality and displays a fundamental and disruptive finding: CD5L is a canonical component of circulatory IgM! This work will certainly reshape our mental picture of IgM, a crucial component of immune responses, and will probably also impact the biopharmaceutical scene... Since an image is worth a thousand words, we'll leave you to it:

If you enjoyed this new section, you would help us immensely by showing it to your peers! Please share and follow us in any of our platforms to stay tuned for more Visual Papers ☺
